Beth Tweddle Visits Sports Leaders March 2010

The Year 11 Sports Leaders, who had been completing their leadership course in both Year 10 and 11 PE lessons, were finally awarded their certificates from Sports Leaders UK last week and who better to award them than European, World and Commonwealth champion gymnast Beth Tweddle.

To receive this qualification, each Sports Leader had to demonstrate their leadership skills whilst working with their peers and demonstrate that they could transfer these skills when working with children from the cluster Primary Schools. 7 units had to be completed, to include planning, organising, communication, officiating and understanding the opportunities available to participate in sport and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It concluded with them organising and running a Primary Sports event, which many of them did on more than one occasion. Their skills have grown considerably over the past year and they have been most valuable in the work being done for the School Sports Partnership.
