Woolston Community High School

Dragon’s Den February 2010

For the past 12 weeks, Year 5 and 6 pupils from Woolston Community Primary and Woolston C of E have been working with us on a Dragons’ Den project. The project was coordinated by Claire Ward, Advanced Skills Teacher in English.

The aim of the project was to work with gifted and able pupils from two local primary schools. In groups, pupils were responsible for designing a new pet product to present to the Dragons! As well as designing the products, the pupils worked with students from Year 11 to investigate the ‘science’ behind their designs. In addition, the pupils worked closely with the Technology department to create a prototype of their inventions.

Last week each group presented their products to the panel of Dragons who rigorously questioned the pupils about their designs. Advanced Skills Teacher, Claire Ward comments, “The project has been a complete success; we have all enjoyed the creativity and enthusiasm of the pupils and I am really proud of my budding entrepreneurs!”

A showcase will be held at Woolston Community High School on Tuesday 9th February at 4pm. The winning design will be announced by the Dragons at this event.
